Free West Papua group members increase their pressure across the Papuan community to boycott the Indonesia General Election.
The group members travelled from one village to another, knocking on the doors of the houses of the local people. They forced people to move outside their houses and take their picture, whilst holding “boycott general election” or “referendum” banners that have been prepared by the group members. Then, they spread those images on social media to gain attention.
Eki Balingga, from Sentani, confessed that the group members threaten him and his villagers, pushed them to take pictures holding the “referendum” and “Boycott election” banners. The pictures were taken behind BTN Ceria Building (housing developed by Government Bank, BTN) in Sentani and published on facebook. He was very disappointed with this exertion since he was keen to support the election, especially one of the Political Parties came from his village. He loves Indonesia and feels frustrated with fraudulent actions committed by the group members. He said the Free West Papua has a fan page account under the logo “Bazooka”.
Atison Suhun, another Papuan, expresses the same feeling after being terrorized by other Free West Papua group members.
He said the group members seized him from his house to take his picture under the boycott banner and uploaded it onto social media. He feels that his personal integrity has been violated by the violent and fraudulent actions of the group members.
The Indonesia General Election is a democratic process towards furthering the freedom of speech in Indonesia. But the Free West Papua group find free speech abhorrent, and wish to prevent it from spreading in Indonesia. They want to prevent the knowledge that the Freedom of Speech and Democracy are indeed present, and growing, in Indonesia.
The Indonesian authority for election and the Police is investigating the incident because the action by Free West Papua members to intimidate and force Papuan to boycott the general election is violation to the law and the principle on freedom of speech.
Tell the Truths can not be silenced with this fraudulent action. People have to be well informed with the real truth that the Free West Papua members abhor to witness the gears of democracy working with the Indonesia General Election, and the continued Freedom of Speech, as these aspects of freedom run smoothly and developing well in Indonesia.
